Dear John,
With war hawks urging that this is a "moment of opportunity" to attack Iran and open speculation about a "preemptive strike" by Israel or the U.S. against Iran, NIAC is committed to calling out and correcting misinformation to sell a war with Iran under false pretenses.
Last week, [[link removed]] when New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew made an outrageous claim on national television that an "Iranian mothership" was sending drones into New Jersey airspace, NIAC demanded [[link removed]] he retract his false statement.
We are pleased to report that Congressman Van Drew has now officially retracted [[link removed]] this claim.
Unfortunately, fear mongering and animus about Iran and Iranians is common in Congress, but NIAC has been the only Iranian American organization to call them out and hold elected officials accountable.
* From Senator Lindsey Graham saying [[link removed]] he would be horrified to discover he had Iranian heritage.
* Senator James Risch suggesting [[link removed]] all Iranians are liars
* Senator Susan Collins sharing that she initially believed January 6 was "the Iranians" attacking.
At a time of heightened tensions in which war hawks are openly calling for the U.S. to attack Iran, now is not the time to be quiet or carefully pick our spots – we need to do what it takes to prevent a war, full stop.
But we need your support to ensure that we can continue to call out the misinformation and hold these elected officials accountable before they try to catapult us into a war with Iran.
, can we count on you to make a donation and ensure that we can continue this work?

Jamal Abdi
