John, I am writing today to express my gratitude for all you do.
As one of our most dedicated supporters, you have dedicated yourself to the work of service. The work of lifting up the condition of other people.
You reflect the best of the America I have seen: During the campaign, during my four years as Vice President, and throughout my life.
As we approach the end of this year, many people have told me they are feeling tired, and maybe even resigned -- doubting whether they have the strength, much less the desire, to stay in the fight.
Look, I understand. But let me be very clear:
We cannot walk away.
We must stay in the fight.
Every one of us.
So, as we close out this year, I ask you to pledge that you will not walk away. That your spirit and your purpose will not be defeated. And that you will continue to fight for the promise of America.
Because the story of America is, in many ways, the story of people staying true to their ideals, even in the face of difficulty.
The movements for civil, women’s, and workers’ rights -- and even the United States of America itself -- would never have come to be if people had given up their cause after losing a court case, a battle, or an election.
So, John, please, get some rest over the holidays and spend time with the people you love.
And then I urge you, I challenge you, to come back ready to march into the future.
Thank you,
Kamala
