We are about to enter the age of Trump 2.0 -- and this time, Donald Trump
has a MAGA Congress and Senate backing him up.

In his first administration, Trump was able to accomplish what he did
because he kept the media in a tailspin. It felt like every time we turned
around, there was a new outrage about the White House.

And while the American people tried to keep up, Trump’s Senate approved
more than 200 of his judges, and Congress allowed his $1.7 trillion tax
cut and rollbacks of hundreds of federal regulations that protect our
environment, civil liberties, and workers rights.(1,2)

This time, we are prepared.

In order to keep up with what Congress is doing -- and how California can
fight back -- we are building a Congressional Watch Hub for journalists
and activists (including you!) to keep track of the Project 2025-esque
legislation moving through Trump’s government.

this undertaking is expensive. We’ve set a $25,000 goal for the end of the
year so we can build the tools we need to hold Congress and Trump

California holds incredible power. Not only are we 12% of the U.S.’s
population, we are the 5th largest economy in the world. We lead the
nation in agricultural production. We are also sixth in the nation for
taxes paid into the federal government, even though we’re in the bottom
third when it comes to federal spending.(3)

Don’t forget what Trump has promised to do to California:

* Fill our state with ICE agents to endanger our immigrant friends and
neighbors
* Undo protections for trans people and LGBTQ communities
* Gut MediCal by withholding tens of millions of dollars in funds
* Push a nationwide Voter ID requirement to overrule California’s voter
protections
* Withhold wildfire recovery federal funds if California doesn’t roll
back water protections
* Weaponize the Environmental Protection Agency to stop California’s
transition to all-electric vehicles
* Activate a 19th-century law to stop California from being an abortion
sanctuary for other states

Courage California works with dozens of organizations that are on the
ground fighting for us and our rights, and we are going to centralize the
work with our Congressional Watch Hub. We’ll keep our partners, the media,
and our members updated on the biggest threats to California coming out of
Congress, and how California can stop them.
