Dear friends,
In this end-of-year period, which I hope you will be able to spend with your loved ones, I would like to express my gratitude because you are among Reporters Without Borders' most loyal supporters.
As RSF correspondent in Gaza since 2018, I have been actively involved in documenting the abuses committed by the Israeli army against Palestinian journalists. Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza in 2023, I have worked tirelessly to help RSF, both to protect Gazan journalists and to cover the war crimes of which Palestinian journalists are still victims.

A week after the start of the war, the house in which my family and I lived in Gaza was hit by an Israeli bombardment. My husband, my four children and I had to evacuate our home in a hurry. A few months later, the strike targeted and destroyed what was left of our house, a few minutes after an Israeli officer had confirmed by telephone that it was the empty house of two journalists, mine and that of my husband, the Agence France Presse (AFP) correspondent in Gaza.
We still don't know whether we'll ever be able to return home. Last November, when we were settling in Rafah, I broke my ankle jumping from the second floor of a house to protect myself from an Israeli strike.

I never imagined that in the course of my career I would have to document the murder of more than 140 of my colleagues. Last February, when the situation had become too dangerous for the population as a whole, and even more so for the journalists directly targeted by the Israeli army, RSF came to the aid of my children and me to enable us to be evacuated. My husband joined us in April. Reporters Without Borders also covered part of my medical expenses and gave us a solidarity grant to help rebuild our destroyed house when we will be able to return.
All these actions are made possible by your donations. It is thanks to your support that Reporters Without Borders is able to help hundreds of journalists around the world, in Gaza and elsewhere. That is why I invite you, if you can, to make a donation to RSF today to support their work.
Thank you very much for your generosity.
