Dear John,
The best sign of a defeated opponent is when they resort to desperate and unsportsmanlike measures... which is exactly what the radical Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) did on November 19.
The SPLC touts itself as a nonprofit civil rights organization "dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry" using "litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy." But as I've said before, the SPLC is really a discredited left-wing organization that raises money on hate and targets the Left's political opponents.
This time, the SPLC set its sights on an affiliate of the Christian-conservative satirical news outlet, The Babylon Bee. The sister organization, Not the Bee, is a real news outlet that reports on news that is so outlandish it ought to be satire.
Apparently, the SPLC decided that the individuals at Not the Bee were doing far too good of a job publishing news that exposed the far Left's lunacy (something that FRC also does from a biblical worldview every day through Washington Watch and our news and commentary outlet, The Washington Stand).
After sending several threatening emails to the staff of Not the Bee, the SPLC decided to doxx fourteen of their writers -- meaning they published the real names and hometowns of Not the Bee's writers, whose work had been published pseudonymously for safety reasons.
The SPLC claims that it published its hit piece to expose Not the Bee's writers for their "anti-LGBTQ and anti-immigration" stances and other "far-right rhetoric." But the truth is, when Leftists are faced with the anguish of actually having to listen to their own beliefs being exposed or challenged, their reaction is to intimidate and silence their opposition rather than defend their nonsensical and untenable positions.
Although much of the Babylon Bee's content is meant to be comedic, unfortunately, this is no laughing matter.
Family Research Council, who was one of the first Christian organizations to face the cancel culture, knows first-hand the danger that the SPLC can gin up.
In 2012, a gunman entered our headquarters and opened fire, seriously injuring one of our colleagues and intending to kill as many FRC employees as possible. But thanks to the brave actions of our building manager and by the grace of God, he not only survived the attack but was able to stop the gunman before any more harm was done.
It was later revealed that the shooter targeted us because FRC's address and location was listed on the SPLC's hate map, where they labeled us an "anti-LGBTQ hate group" alongside real hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan.
Apparently, the SPLC remains unconcerned about the harm its actions can cause, given that we are still listed on its hate map along with a number of other Christian organizations!
John, these types of attacks against groups like Not the Bee are sure to continue, but even though the far Left is working hard to scare Christians and conservatives like you, we will not be silenced.
We even launched a petition to the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government to investigate the government's use of the SPLC as a source of information, which garnered over 50,000 signatures.
The far Left has made clear how comfortable they are targeting their opposition when they gain power; that's why it's critical we defend the faith.
Will you partner with Family Research Council as we boldly and unapologetically shine the light of biblical truth on Capitol Hill and across America?
When you give before December 31, your gift will have twice the impact in 2025 thanks to our $1.5 Million Challenge Match.
MAKE 2X THE IMPACT
And, for your gift of any size, we will send you our new digital resource, "The Real St. Nicholas," to enjoy with your family this Christmas season!
We know that being smeared by the SPLC is no joke, and the consequences of being targeted can have far-reaching effects.
In 2017, FRC contracted with MobileCause, a California-based software company that we used to send petitions, alerts, and other important messages to our partners.
We had intended to use MobileCause's services as part of our 2020 Pray Vote Stand Summit, but one hour before we were supposed to send texts to our followers so they could livestream the event, the CEO of MobileCause sent us an email terminating our contract.
The reason? They saw us on the SPLC "hate map."
The incessant targeting, smearing, and cancellation of Christians showed us that we needed to do something more.
We needed our own platform to elevate Christian voices and push back against the cancel culture and lies of the mainstream media.
That's why we launched the Stand Firm App in 2024, a cancel-resistant platform to keep Christians connected, encouraged, and engaged with what's happening in Washington, D.C., and a way to separate the truth from the spin and be a voice for change in our government.
And we've seen tremendous success. The Stand Firm App was ranked in the top #30 for news in the app store in 2024, with over 33,000 downloads since we launched earlier this year! Our ranking even puts us above other recognizable names like The Washington Post, Newsmax, AP News, BBC, and others.
Despite the far Left's ongoing attacks, one thing is certain: if the SPLC and other radical leftists continue to target us and other like-minded organizations, that means our crosshairs are over the bullseye.
They understand that FRC is standing in their way and making a real difference on behalf of biblical values across the country.
John, will you partner with us so we can be resourced and equipped to continue exposing the radical Left and championing biblical truth in 2025?
DOUBLE MY GIFT
Every gift given before December 31 will have DOUBLE the impact, thanks to generous friends of FRC! And don't forget, for a gift of any size, you'll receive our new digital resource, "The Real St. Nicholas."
Despite being smeared, canceled, and targeted, Family Research Council will not surrender. We do not exist to cater to the popular opinions of the culture; we exist to serve in the kingdom of God, championing faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a biblical worldview. And we will not allow intimidation tactics or cancel culture to deter us.
While the far Left can threaten, intimidate, propagandize, and even commit violence in the name of their cause, we know that the truth will always prevail.
That is why, as Christians, it is paramount that we never abandon the truth of God's Word.
We all have a choice either to stand firmly or to give in, but like Joshua said of old, "...[A]s for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15 ESV). As long as I am president of Family Research Council, we will serve the Lord.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we are making a real difference in Washington, D.C., and across America.
