I am a first-generation immigrant and the second in my family to graduate from college , right after my older sister.
Imagine being the first in your family to graduate from high school or college. The excitement and joy that rushes through your body—and through your entire family tree— as you're about to receive your degree is indescribable.
In order to maintain health and safety, schools have canceled in-person graduation ceremonies. Which means unfortunately, many students won’t be able to fully experience those feelings. [[link removed]]

In an effort to lift this incredible milestone for 2020 grads [[link removed]] , Generation Progress is partnering with Define American, FWD.us, I Am An Immigrant, Golden Door Scholars, and United We Dream to host a virtual commencement on Saturday, May 23 at 3pm ET for students across the country to celebrate their accomplishments with family, friends, and supporters.
