BJA COVID-19 Detection and Mitigation in Confinement Facilities Training and Technical Assistance Center
New Resources for Effectively Managing Infectious Airborne Diseases in Confinement Facilities [ [link removed] ]

The Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA) COVID-19 Detection and Mitigation in Confinement Facilities Training and Technical Assistance Center [ [link removed] ] released four new resources for confinement facilities, health departments, and emergency managers. 

Managing public health crises in confinement facilities is critical for the safety of visitors, staff, and incarcerated individuals. These resources provide guidance on the effective management and mitigation of infectious airborne disease within confinement settings.  


* *Planning for Respiratory Pathogen Pandemics: A Guidebook for Corrections Systems and Confinement Facilities* [ [link removed] ]: This resource provides guidance, a planning template, and assessment tool for corrections, health departments, and emergency management agency administrators and staff to ensure they have sustainable preparedness capabilities. 

* *Peer-to-Peer Education Program Guide* [ [link removed] ]*:* This guide provides methods and best practices to support health education for people who are incarcerated through a peer health education program, training people who are incarcerated as peer health educators. Created in partnership with Project Echo at the University of New Mexico. 

* *What Public Health Needs to Know About Corrections/What Corrections Need to Know about Public Health* [ [link removed] ]*:* This infographic provides public health a glimpse into the unique considerations for collaborating with corrections and provides corrections guidance on how to collaborate with public health. 

* *What Emergency Management Needs to Know About Corrections/What Corrections Needs to Know About Emergency Management* [ [link removed] ]*: *This infographic provides corrections guidance on how to collaborate with emergency management.
