Dear Supporter,
While we are in the holiday season, I wanted to send an email with some tips on how you can be more climate-friendly this month!
Waste is always a big issue during the festive season, so here are some ways you can tackle this:
Wrapping Paper: You could use a scarf to wrap your gifts or reuse wrapping paper from previous gift exchanges! This year try and save wrapping paper you get from gifts so you can reuse it next year. Tree: Real trees are climate-friendly as they help the atmosphere when they are growing. Buy locally to reduce your carbon footprint even further. If you already have an artificial tree, pack it away to reuse it every year. Clothes: Christmas is the busiest social season of the year. This means pressure to buy a separate new outfit for that dinner with the school friends, the work outing and the family gathering. Why not be strategic? Wear your outfits multiple times in different groups. Style a black dress with different colourful accessories, or call into one of our shops for a unique second-hand find. We are encouraging our supporters to shop in local Oxfam Ireland stores for holiday gifts this season. The money you spend does more than cross names off your gift list. This money supports life-changing work worldwide, tackling inequality, the root cause of poverty and injustice. Also, if you have any items to donate, please bring them along. They could make the perfect gift for someone else.
