Defending Liberty

What to Know: The Texas Public Policy Foundation is reopening its Austin headquarters.

“I believe strongly that we need to do everything we can to get Texans back to work as quickly and as safely as possible,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “It’s in that spirit that we at TPPF plan to lead by example. We will return in a responsible way, of course. I care deeply about the safety and welfare of our staff and all who walk through our doors. But it is time for all Texans to heed the call to get Texas reopened. We are all ready to live our lives again.”

Hope on the Horizon

What to Know: Even as the economy begins the long, laborious process of restarting, Texans are helping Texans. As Robby Nethercut of Z’Tejas says, “Everywhere you look, there’s an opportunity to help someone.”

Subsidized Slaughter

What to Know: Wind turbines continue to kill endangered birds such as the bald eagle—and they’re being subsidized by taxpayers to do so.

The TPPF Take: Wind turbines kill millions of birds each year.

“Wind energy proponents, ignoring the effects of wind turbines on birds, pushed Congress to renew the Production Tax Credit, a renewable energy subsidy,” says TPPF’s Jim Wiegand. “Taxpayer advocates have the right to be upset about this. The PTC will continue to fuel the deaths of millions of birds while pretending to help save the planet.”
