As we near the end of 2024, a time of reflection and unity, a cherished symbol of faith and community is under threat. For over 50 years, the cross on Albany Hill in California has stood as a beacon of hope, maintained by the Albany Lions Club. It has been a place for weddings, memorials, and gatherings, bringing people together in fellowship.

However, after a single complaint in 2016, the city council has been relentlessly pursuing the cross's removal. Despite its historical significance and the constitutional rights of the Lions Club, the city has disconnected its electricity, condemned it in public hearings, and is attempting to seize it through condemnation, arguing it violates the Establishment Clause.

The Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) is assisting the Albany Lions Club in fighting this unjust action. This case is about more than a cross; it's about preserving our nation's commitment to religious freedom and expression.

As we prepare to welcome 2025, the outcome of this case will have lasting implications for:
