Washington, DC -Today, Congressman Van Drew shared a letter sent to him from Atlantic City Electric (ACE) as a follow-up to their meeting on December 5th, where he met with leaders from ACE and Exelon to discuss solutions for the skyrocketing utility bills affecting South Jersey residents.
"As a result of our meeting, we were able to secure some important commitments from ACE," said Congressman Van Drew. "First, they have agreed to conduct an additional audit of their billing system, which is an important step in making sure customers are being fairly charged. They also agreed to take a closer look at claims from people who believe they were overcharged and to work on resolving those cases. In the meeting, we suggested they host office hours across South Jersey where customers can sit down with representatives face-to-face to discuss their concerns. As a result, they have made it clear they intend to put together a more efficient process to ensure customer complaints are more immediately addressed.
"This is a good start but there is still a lot of work to do. We are going to keep fighting against any proposed rate hikes, and we will make sure they follow through on these commitments they have made. In the meantime, we will continue working with the incoming administration on this issue because our residents deserve real action and real results."
