Tomorrow night is our webinar about the new Snowmobiles Aren’t Weapons Act, a critical piece of legislation that is a must-pass measure in the new year. I personally ask that you attend this online event to learn more about the bill — why it’s so important, how we intend to pass it, and what you can do to make it happen.

The bill is a response to the horrific story that came out of Daniel, Wyo., last spring. Millions of people across the globe — including many of you — reacted with shock and horror when local trucker and mountain lion hound hunter Cody Roberts used his snowmobile to chase and run over a young wolf we named Theia. After plowing over and grievously wounding the animal, he bound her with tape, tortured her in front of friends at a local bar, and took her out back and shot her to death.

That act of depravity is why we are so passionate about the SAW Act. Intentionally running over a wolf, coyote or any other animal with a snowmobile is an act of sadism, and anyone who commits this kind of malice is a threat to the well-being of all animals and even people. It’s an indicator of a mental pathology. It’s grievously immoral, and it should be illegal.

That’s why we need you and your friends to attend the webinar. Only by becoming informed and by taking action can we prevent others like Cody Roberts from using vehicles to massacre innocent animals just for the fun of it.
