Hi John,
After 12 incredible years with Equality Federation (and 30 years in the LGBTQ+ movement!), I am writing to you today with a heart full of gratitude and hope. As I step away from my role here, I’ve found myself reflecting on the journey we’ve taken together—the challenges we’ve faced, the victories we’ve celebrated, and the incredible strength of the community we’ve built.
It has been the honor of my life to work alongside you and many others who share a vision of equality, justice, and liberation.
Together, we’ve accomplished so much. Over the last decade, we’ve transformed how we support our 49 state partners—providing resources they need to help them make change in the places they call home.
When I first encountered Equality Federation as a young leader 25 years ago, it was a loose network of scrappy, under-resourced organizations. Although it was clear how vital building power at the state level would be for our movement, I couldn't have imagined how much Equality Federation and our network would grow over the years to come. I am immensely grateful for the remarkable people doing this work across the country. It has truly been a joy getting to work closely with them.
Your generosity ensures Equality Federation will continue to lead, support, and empower state-based organizations to push for progress and protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people everywhere. I am proud to have been part of this legacy, and I know you’ll help carry it forward.
