In 1985, 25 fearless women — the Founding Mothers of EMILYs List — gathered in Ellen R. Malcolm's basement armed with their Rolodexes and an ambitious vision. Their goal? To create a network of at least 1,000 members dedicated to electing qualified Democratic pro-choice women to every level of office. Not only did they achieve this goal in just 10 months — they surpassed it.
Nearly 40 years later, our millions-strong community has made history time and time again.
