When I needed healing the most, I found it in the stillness of its pristine waters, the towering pines, and the quiet that allowed me to reconnect with myself. That’s why I created Saving Silence this year —to share my journey and show how this wild landscape can transform lives.
In the film, I dive into the critical connection between mental health, public lands, and the shocking reality of microplastics showing up in even the most remote places. I also had the privilege of reconnecting with Arctic explorer Lonnie Dupre and Clare Shirley, owner of Sawbill Canoe Outfitters, to discuss why protecting the Boundary Waters is more urgent than ever.
Because this special place is under threat. Toxic copper mining could destroy the very essence of the Boundary Waters—its pristine lakes, clean air, and ability to provide refuge for people like me.
