Earlier today at 10:57 am in Madison, Wisconsin at the Abundant Life Christian School, three (3) people were killed, including the suspected juvenile shooter who attended the school. At least six (6) additional people were injured, It is believed the shooter used a handgun.
Although the news of this shooting at a school is shocking to most, the fact that another shooting has occurred in America comes as no surprise to anyone. We cannot and should not ignore this type of violence.
Jeremy Stein, Executive Director of States United stated, "Our schools are supposed to be a safe haven for our children. We must do more to ensure that when we drop our kids off at school, they will be coming home to us at the end of the day. Gun violence is preventable "
We cannot grow numb to the over 40,000 gun deaths that occur each year in America [[link removed]] , nor the fact that gun violence in now the number one killer of children, and has officially been declared a public health crisis [[link removed]] by the US Surgeon General.
Stein further states "In the days and weeks that follow this incident, we must not fail to examine the root causes of this incident nor address how easy it is to get a firearm in America."
