Metro bus driver in East Hollywood, authorities said. Police responded to a call at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 16 in the 1600 block of North Vermont Avenue, where a 56-year-old woman was found bleeding from a gunshot wound to the face, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The bus driver had parked and was on a break when authorities say a man arrived unannounced and shot her. No one else was aboard the bus at the time. The driver was taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery and was listed in critical but stable condition, police said at the time. The LAPD did not provide an update on the status of the victim. Two days after the attack, police identified Dorian Holt, 45, of Los Angeles, as a suspect. Authorities say he ran from the scene and later left the state. The LAPD arrested him Thursday in Escondido, shortly after he returned to Southern California. Los Angeles Times Barber Shot at Workplace in Mission Hills, Suspect Flees on E-Bike A barber who was shot at his Mission Hills workplace was hospitalized with critical injuries, leaving him unable to walk, authorities said Sunday. The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Prodigy Barbershop, at 15519 Blackhawk St., just east of the San Diego (405) Freeway and just north of Devonshire Street, according to reports. Surveillance video showed a masked suspect in a black cap and black hoodie walking past the store, turning back around to shoot at someone inside and running to an electric scooter, which was used to flee the scene. Michelle Moreno — the victim’s mother — spoke to reporters and said her son Anthony Rotarte’s nervous system was left incapacitated by the bullet and he was left unable to walk. MyNewsLA Suspected DUI driver slams into LAPD cruiser during chase on 101 Freeway A suspected DUI driver slammed into a police cruiser early Sunday morning during a chase on the 101 Freeway in North Hollywood. It happened just after midnight near Tujunga Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers had just started following the driver when he slammed into an LAPD SUV. The cruiser was carrying a person who had just been placed under arrest in the backseat. Two officers and that person were taken to the hospital, but they're expected to be okay. The DUI suspect was taken into custody at the scene. The incident remains under investigation. ABC 7 60-year-old woman injured in L.A. stabbing, suspect taken into custody Police took a suspect into custody after a stabbing left a 60-year-old woman injured in Los Angeles on Sunday. According to the L.A. Police Department, the stabbing was reported at about 1:22 p.m. Sunday in the 7900 block of Mammoth Avenue in Panorama City. Police said a man stabbed the woman before fleeing the scene. The woman was in unknown condition as of Sunday afternoon. The suspect, identified only as a white man, was later taken into custody Sunday afternoon. It’s unknown if the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the incident, or what led up to the alleged stabbing. No additional details were immediately made available. KTLA 5 $25k reward offered for information on driver who fled from crash that left 22-year-old seriously injured Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver that left a 22-year-old man with severe injuries in Sylmar last week. It happened on Wednesday at around 9:15 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers were sent to the intersection of Sayre Street and Foothill Boulevard after learning of a crash involving a pedestrian. They arrived and found the victim, still unidentified. Investigators learned that a gray sedan was traveling northbound through the intersection on Sayre Street before making a left turn to begin driving westbound on Foothill Boulevard. It was there that they hit the pedestrian. Instead of stopping to help, they continued heading westbound. A standing reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for anyone who has information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the alleged suspect. In hopes of locating the driver, police have released a photo of the suspect's vehicle from surveillance footage obtained during their investigation. CBS 2 Woman dognaps French bulldog from North Hollywood backyard A family in North Hollywood is seeking the public’s help in finding their beloved senior dog that was snatched right from their backyard. Surveillance video captured a woman entering the backyard of Jason Bitonio’s home on Tuesday and taking his French bulldog, Domino. “My elderly French bulldog. He’s 12 years old; we’ve had him since eight weeks old,” Bitonio said. “He’s been a part of our family basically his entire life.” According to Bitonio, he and his family noticed someone was casing their home roughly 20 minutes before their pooch was taken. The woman in the surveillance footage was seen wearing black leggings, a light-colored sweatshirt, a black hat, a black mask, light-colored shoes and had a ponytail. The Los Angeles Police Department said it is investigating the theft. NBC 4 California couple shot and killed in Mexico A California couple was killed in a shooting while on vacation in the Mexican state of Michoacán, Mexican authorities confirmed Thursday. The Michoacán State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into the murders of Sacramento couple Gloria Ambriz, 50, and Rafael Cardona, 53, who were attacked late Wednesday night in the municipality of Angamacutiro. The couple was traveling in a black 2016 Ford Platinum pickup truck with Querétaro license plates when gunmen opened fire near the intersection of Felipe Ángeles and Juan de la Barrera streets in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood. Ambriz was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cardona succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to a hospital in Puruándiro, officials said. Investigators have recovered ballistic evidence from the scene, which is being analyzed as part of the ongoing inquiry. The Attorney General's Office of the State of Michoacán has assembled a team of prosecutors, police, and forensic experts to determine the motive and identify those responsible for the killings. FOX 11 Tenn. officer killed after suspect opens fire in driveway confrontation An officer was killed following a violent encounter with a suspect in Selmer, Tennessee, the Selmer Police Department said in a news release. The incident began just after 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 14 when the Selmer Police Department received reports of a suspicious man in the 100 block of New Bethel Road. Witnesses told officers the suspect had attempted to force his way into a residence and fired multiple shots into the door before fleeing on foot, according to police. Officers responding to the scene were informed the suspect had crossed the street. Sergeant Rick Finley, who was working part-time with the Selmer Police Department and full-time with the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office, located the suspect in a driveway. According to police, the suspect physically attacked Finley before fatally shooting him. Moments later, Lieutenant Ron Pilkington of the Selmer Police Department arrived on the scene and returned fire, killing the suspect. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate the incident at the request of the 25th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. It happened just after 4 p.m. near the 4600 block of W. Don Lorenzo Drive, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. "One patient was trapped in the vehicle and firefighters are conducting an auto extrication operation," a statement from LAFD said. Crews pulled the person from car, which could be seen with SkyCal overhead. They were loaded into an ambulance shortly afterwards. One of the two involved vehicles was resting on a hillside near a light pole. It had considerable damage to the front end. A second vehicle sat hundreds of feet away, also with severe damage. Firefighters say that both victims of the crash were taken to hospitals after the crash, one of which died after arrival. CBS 2 Firefighters simultaneously fight structure fire, swarm of bees in Los Angeles Firefighters have tough jobs, but a swarm of bees made their job even harder while fighting a structure fire that broke out Sunday morning. Los Angeles Fire Department officials confirmed that the blaze started just before 11 a.m. in the 1600 block of New Jersey Street in L.A.’s Boyle Heights neighborhood. “The seat of the fire appeared to be in the crawl space of a living space added on to the back of a house,” LAFD stated. “The fire extended up the wall to the garage of the primary structure.” Two garages and a one-story apartment building were also exposed to the flames, LAFD elaborated. Video posted to the Citizen App shows smoke billowing into the clear morning sky. Eventually, just over half an hour after the fire broke out, 54 firefighters were able to extinguish the flames with no injuries reported.
