Team, my commitment to advancing women’s rights is stronger than ever.

I first decided to run for Congress because I’ve lived through the challenges of being a working mom. Those experiences have fueled my work to defend women’s reproductive freedom, expand women’s health care, ensure every woman has a fair shot at success, and give women the voice they deserve.

But those same ideals are now under attack by Donald Trump and his allies.

The GOP’s decades-long assault on reproductive rights has resulted in a wave of suffering that has been felt by women nationwide. Trump’s Vice President-elect, JD Vance, has mocked women for not being able to have children. And Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, believes that women shouldn’t serve in combat roles in the military. Not to mention Project 2025 and the extreme right wing’s plans to dismantle reproductive healthcare access for women nationwide.

I don’t want to live in a world where women aren’t treated as equals, and it’s not one I want future generations to live in, either. That’s why my colleagues and I are committed to building a future where women are given the respect they deserve.

That starts with giving women a seat at the table, and I’m proud that House Democrats are going to be swearing in more women than ever before. But there’s much more work to be done.
