⚠️Upcoming Roadworks⚠️

Sunday 18 August: Victoria Embankment and Wilford Grove
Full road closure from 10am - 8pm for the Nottingham Carnival. Several neighbouring roads will be closed during the parade between 1.30 - 4pm. For more information see 'event travel info' below

Monday 5 August - Monday 16 September: Vernon Road
Road closed between Valley Road/Western Boulevard junction to Nottingham Road/Vernon Road junction outbound only for gas mains renewal. Diversion via Vernon Road and Valley Road/Nottingham Road

Until 1 September: Pemberton Street North - city centre
Road closed for construction works

Monday 29 July - Friday 30 August: Green Lane - Clifton
Work to resurface Green Lane and construct a new pedestrian crossing - more here

Monday 12 - Friday 30 August: Lobelia Close
Road closure to repair district heating main. 

Monday 12 - Friday 23 August: Lenton Boulevard near junction with Ashburnham Avenue
Temporary pedestrian crossing for traffic signal repairs. 

Monday 12 - Friday 23 August: Derby Road at junction with Hill Side
Temporary pedestrian crossing for traffic signal repairs. 

Wednesday 14 - Monday 19 August: Bramber Grove at the junction with Highbank Drive
Three way temprary traffic signals in operation for Severn Trent Water man hole cover repairs. 

Wednesday 14 - Tuesday 20 August: Alfreton Road outside number 146
Lane closure 9:30am - 3pm to establish new gas connections

Saturday 17 - Sunday 18 August: Colwick Road
Road closure overnight (9.30pm - 8am) so Network Rail can inspect the rails under level crossing.

Monday 19 - Wednesday 21 August:  Alexandra Street

Road closure at junction with Sherwood Rise so Severn Trent Water can establish a new water connection. Alternative route via Sherwood Rise - Hamilton Road - Hucknall Road.

Monday 19 August - Friday 13 September: Burns Street
Road closure and parking suspension for gas main renewal.


Major Roadworks

Canal Street gas works
From 29 July, major gas replacement works will mean Canal Street is closed westbound from London Road to Trent Street for 14 weeks. Read more 👉 here

Tram track replacement
5 - 18 August, Mount Hooton Road/ Forest Road/ Waverley Street junction closed for tram track works. A signed diversion will be in place. 

In addition, there will be no tram service between The Forest and Old Market Square - a bus replacement service will be in operation.

Thursday 11 July onwards: Castle Boulevard
Work will begin on a new Stepnell development by the canal side which will affect the Western Cycle Corridor. During the construction there will be vehicles using the cycle lane to access the site so please be extra careful when riding along the route. More information here

⚠️ Bank holiday disruption ⚠️

Saturday 24 - Monday 26 August: Work will be taking place across a number of East Midlands Trains routes, including to Newark, Lincoln and Leicester. In addition, trains to and from London, Peterborough and Ely are expected to be particularly busy due to major works taking place on the East Coast Mainline.

Several timetables have been amended and passengers are advised to check their routes before travelling.

Carnival 2019

What's on?

Victoria Embankment
Sunday 18 August 2019 | noon - 8pm
FREE PARADE 
Adults £3, U12s £1

Join thousands lining the route at the Victoria Embankment as the city’s liveliest (and loudest) parade winds its way around in a celebration of Nottingham’s Caribbean heritage featuring hundreds of colourful costumes made just for the parade and energetically displayed to music from moving sound systems and Samba drums. Victoria Embankment and Wilford Grove will be closed to traffic from 10am - 8pm for the carnival. The following roads will be closed during the parade between 1.30 and 4pm:
- Bunbury Street
- Green Street
- Hunter Street
- Fraser Street (from Bunbury Street)
- Wilford Grove (from Felton Road to the north end of Wilford Grove)
- Felton Road
- Where Wilford Crescent East meets Green Street
The main diversion will be via Meadows Way and Robin Hood Way, with a local diversion via Collygate Road onto Bathley Street
