1) Stop the Social Security Steal

As early as today, the Senate will vote on an absurd bill to give state and local government employees a $200B+ Social Security bonus.

Social Security runs out of money in 10 years and is on a course to insolvency.

But instead of fixing the finances, 62 senators - including many Republicans who pretend to be fiscal conservatives - are sponsoring a bill ([link removed]) to raise monthly benefits for public employees, even though their complaints are phony. This group of workers ALREADY receives pay and benefits that are 30% higher than comparable private sector workers. Most are already eligible for supersized state pensions. Roughly 80% of government employees are Democrats and more than 90% of the political spending by their unions goes to defeat Republicans.

The bill (H.R.82) passed the House in November with 327 votes ([link removed]) .

We are running $2 TRILLION deficits and Social Security has a $22 trillion unfunded liability, yet senators in both parties are voting to dig the hole deeper and move up by nearly a year the date when the SS trust fund runs out of money. They are hoping no one notices this swindle. WE notice.

Mr. President - stop the steal.

2) 16 Countries Already Have Personal Accounts

Speaking of Social Security, the only solution that works for the next generation is to allow young workers to put their payroll tax dollars into private 401k accounts. Congress says the idea is "too risky."

Really? A new study by Dan Mitchell and Robert O'Quinn for Canada's Fraser Institute, finds that “16 of 38 OECD member states have shifted at least in part to 'funded' plans based on private savings. This approach is automatically immune to demographic changes.”

Changes like the rapid aging of the population are now happening in the United States.

3) How to Drain the Swamp

We at Unleash Prosperity are working closely with Elon and Vivek at DOGE to help avert national bankruptcy, and we've been asking our readers for ideas on how Uncle Sam can save billions of dollars. We've received an avalanche of sound suggestions, many of which were summarized last week in the New York Post ([link removed]) . We won't recite all of them here, but a few of the highlights:
[link removed]

* Enact severe penalties, up to and including shutdown, of any agency that cannot pass a simple audit of how they spend our money (many can’t).
* Track down the fraudsters who stole hundreds of billions of dollars from welfare programs, COVID relief efforts, the PPP program, food stamps, Medicare, and more. Use all federal police powers to claw that money back.
* Give the president the power to impound funds that were appropriated by Congress but went unspent by federal agencies.
* Offer rewards to federal employees who identify waste and innovative ways to save money. Give them a 10% bonus for every dollar saved.
* Stop all federal loan and grant programs to universities that have endowments of more than $1 billion, unless they freeze tuition.
* Lay down the law to debt-laden states like New York and Illinois: No federal bailouts are coming — get your fiscal house in order!
* Move federal agencies out of Washington, DC. House the Environmental Protection Agency in Flint, Michigan, the Department of Energy in Pittsburgh or Dallas, the Department of the Interior in Montana.
* Cut the $100 billion Department of Education budget in half and use the remaining money for scholarships for low-income families living in failed school districts so these kids can attend good schools.
* End all foreign aid programs and all funding of the IMF and World Bank. Instead, airdrop copies of Milton Friedman’s “Capitalism and Freedom” into poor countries whose struggling people most need its message.

What do you think? Got more great ideas: keep sending 'em in!

4) Does ANYONE Still Watch CNN or MSNBC?

For months, these hate-Trump propaganda channels assured their viewers that Trump was a loser. After he won, their ratings crashed. Fox now has more than double the audience of its two left-wing rivals combined.

The WSJ reports:

While viewers are flocking to Fox News in the wake of Donald Trump's election win last month, ratings for MSNBC and CNN have tumbled. The declines are far worse than what happened the last time Trump won, in 2016.

MSNBC averaged 603,000 prime-time viewers from the day after the election through Dec. 8, down by more than half from the network's year-to-date average through the election, according to Nielsen data. CNN was down 46%, to 401,000 viewers. Meanwhile, Fox News was up 12%, averaging about 2.7 million viewers.

5) Headline of the Day

It looks like somebody in Mar-a-Lago has been reading the HOTLINE.

In Friday's edition, we suggested the incoming president fire the incompetent Postmaster General and privatize as much of the mail and package delivery as possible.

Two days later, this headline appears:
