Dear 350Brooklyn Members,

Taking stock of our accomplishments this past year and celebrating wins is an important part of our continued climate advocacy. And that is why we made this video message – highlighting our 2024 work!

Please enjoy and consider donating to 350Brooklyn if you believe that grassroots local action is the best way to fight the climate crisis.

2024 Year in Review

We fought for new climate laws

  • We championed the NY Heat Act to curb the expansion of gas infrastructure, lower our utility rates and bolster a green economy
  • We won on congestion pricing that will reduce gridlock traffic, improve air quality and raise revenue for NYC’s public transit system
  • We’re still pushing through the Climate Superfund Act that would hold fossil fuel companies responsible for environmental harms caused by their greenhouse emissions

We pushed our Brooklyn electeds on climate

  • We made 17 lobby visits to local Brooklyn Assembly Members and State Senators
  • We participated in 13 statewide call relays, 7 Albany visits, and supported 8 local NYC rallies, including marshaling
  • Our Power Hour Crew made hundreds of calls, written testimony, emails and comments

We fought against fossil fuel financing

  • We participated in 12 weeks of Summer of Heat action focused on Citibank
  • We organized and executed two major actions against the East African Crude Oil Pipeline

We launched new projects!

  • We started a new work group called Renewable Brooklyn College with the goal to organize community support for turning Brooklyn College into a renewable energy hub that can reduce emissions, relieve the neighborhood’s overstretched power grid, and serve as a pilot for broader decarbonization efforts
  • We launched our new Arts, Ideas, Events committee and then…
  • Brought the Great Pacific Garbage Patch to the 2024 Mermaid Parade in Coney Island

We educated and we learned

  • Climate Check: Stories and Solutions, our monthly podcast, produced another 9 cutting-edge podcasts on topics from to plastic waste to teaching climate justice
  • We hosted 6 monthly meetings on topics spanning from The Anti-Renewables Backlash to Fractivists and Pipeline Resisters

Did we miss something? Perhaps you have a personal climate accomplishment that you’d like to share? Please be in touch by replying to this email – we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you for your commitment to this organization and we look forward to continuing our fight in 2025 – together and strong.

With hope,
