Last week, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 9172, the Destruction Initiative for Stored Precursors Overseas and Safe Enforcement (DISPOSE) Act, as part of the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025! The bill keeps Americans safe by fighting illicit drugs where they are sourced, cutting off the supply of chemicals and drugs before they reach American shores. It does this through the creation of fentanyl and precursor chemical destruction facilities in three critical drug trafficking choke points: Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. This bill is a major step in keeping Miami safe and American streets free of fentanyl and the destruction that comes with it! Read more about the bill here! QUESTIONING SECRETARY OF STATE ANTONY BLINKEN ON BIDEN-HARRIS' LATIN AMERICA POLICY! Last week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken came before the House Foreign Affairs Committee and I took my time to question him on important global issues that closely impact us in Florida's 27th Congressional District. The biggest takeaways: (1) Revoking oil licenses for companies to operate in Venezuela are on the table for review, (2) the State Department deflected on the United States government's willingness to pardon the Colombian FARC terrorist Simón Trinidad, and (3) the Biden-Harris Administration has no plans to remove Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terrorism List! FIGHTING FOR THE VICTIMS OF DEEPFAKE, A.I.-GENERATED REVENGE PORN I joined U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) in a press conference to celebrate the passage of the TAKE IT DOWN Act in the Senate! My friend and colleague Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) and I introduced the House version of the bill earlier this year. Make no mistake: This bill must both houses of Congress this year! The victims of deepfake revenge pornography, most of whom are women and girls, deserve justice and protection from our federal government. The time for action is now, and I am working to make sure my colleagues in the House do their part in delivering this justice for them.
