Sometimes we need to be willing to say the quiet part out loud even when the truth is uncomfortable: This election should have been a slam dunk for Democrats.

Yet, when I said that the party needed to stop looking down its nose at the very voters we lost across every corner of the country, and be willing to have open conversations about tough issues like the economy, the border, and divisive cultural issues, some in our party got very angry.

The chair of the local Democratic Party called me a Nazi cooperator. The head of the Political Science Department of a major Boston university said that my office was no longer welcome to contact them. And a primary challenger has already registered to run against me.

And all of this despite an overwhelming number of national voices echoing my concerns, not to mention the hundreds of calls and texts I’ve received from voters who said themselves, “I agree with you Seth, but it feels like I’m not allowed to say that out loud.”

It’s starting to feel like some Democrats just don’t want to win. Well, I do. And if you agree, I need your help.

If you’re with me, please consider making an early contribution to my re-election campaign. [[link removed]]

Make no mistake: if we aren’t willing to have difficult conversations as a party and if we continue to push out any voter that doesn’t adhere to the extreme left’s self-defined purity tests, we will continue to lose elections. And, as a result, the vulnerable people whose rights you and I want to protect are the people who will be hurt the most.

As a Marine, I learned about the power of the wisdom that emerges from a group of people with different opinions and experiences. I also learned to be a fighter. I will continue to fight for the individual freedoms of every American. But in order to do that we need to start by winning elections.

Join me today.
