Hi John,
Whenever things get tough, or look particularly hopeless, I like to turn to my favorite song, “Love’s in Need of Love Today” by Stevie Wonder.
The lyrics ring true even now, almost 50 years after its release:

Breaking hate's tried to break my heart many times
In times like this, it can sometimes feel like there’s only hate. I know there are people all across our district, our state and our nation who are frustrated, anxious, angry, or fearful after the results of our Election. There is a sense of unease as we head back into uncharted territory, and for good reason.
But when I take a step back and look at all the progress we’ve made, I’m reminded why I’ll never quit this work: my commitment to building a better future for our children and a better life for our communities.
It’s what guides me in Congress, and why we’re able to accomplish the good work we do. That’s why we set a $5,000 mid-month fundraising goal — to help us finish this year strong and maintain our momentum in this fight for progress. Will you pitch in $5 before tonight's midnight deadline?
