John,
When the prophet Isaiah promised a Messiah would come, Israel was in a dark place as the Assyrian invasion loomed ahead. Though the future was bleak, Isaiah declared a light would shine in the darkness:
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone. (Isaiah 9:2)
This "great light" was the Light of the World who came to earth that special night in Bethlehem to show the way to the Father. And this Light didn't just bring salvation to Israel but also to the whole world.
Today Israel finds herself in another dark period. But the ACLJ can be a light for Israel as we defend her both in America and globally. We continue to send demand letters to world leaders and the U.N. on a near-weekly basis. Please pray for us as we remain a light shining in the darkness for Israel.
It's almost your last chance to get the final 2024 ACLJ Prayer Guide. In addition to prayer requests related to the ACLJ's mission, you'll find devotions celebrating Christmas.
