Dear Friend,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
Yesterday, my son, Danny, and I joined President-elect Donald J. Trump, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Elon Musk, Speaker Mike Johnson, our next White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, our Commonwealth's next U.S. Senator Dave McCormick, and many other great patriots at the 125th Army-Navy Football Game — an enduring tradition that embodies the bravery, camaraderie, and unwavering dedication of our nation's military.
It was quite a day and game. Watching my son discuss energy production and clean energy ideas with Elon Musk was surreal. My son, Danny, is a geology and environmental science major at Bucknell. He is graduating and heading to the Navy. Our new US Senator, Dave McCormick, led the effort to get this great group together. Dave will bring many positive, exciting opportunities to Pennsylvania. President Trump is always generous, hospitable, and personable, and he likes keeping positive energy in the room. Many well-known cabinet members were in attendance. Daniel Penny was also there. Daniel served as a Marine. He and my son spoke at length. I was so impressed by Danny Penny. Incredibly humble, polite, demure. He knows his actions to protect his fellow citizens were necessary. Nevertheless, Danny is so humble, with no pretense, and even somewhat embarrassed by his notoriety. Anyway, I thought it important to share that so you can understand how nice a young man he is.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I won’t kid you; it’s a lot of work every day. But there are also some great opportunities, such as attending the Army-Navy game with the President, US Senator, and my son, that I do not take for granted and very much thoughtfully appreciate.
This week, brave law enforcement officers in Altoona arrested Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the tragic murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Unfortunately, UPenn Professor Julia Alekseyeva referred to Mangione as “the icon we all need and deserve” and stated on social media that she has “never been prouder to be a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.” Additionally, Professor Alekseyeva was recorded dancing in excitement in the same social media post, a disturbing display that trivializes the gravity of the crime and makes clear she does not have the judgment to be an academic leader.
I wrote UPenn’s President today demanding accountability and action. Click here to read more on Fox News <[link removed]>.

Additionally, WGAL-8 NBC News covered the story. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

We take pride in institutions like UPenn in Pennsylvania, but recent events have caused us to look closely at its leadership. Professor Julia Alekseyeva’s mocking and celebrating the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson warrants her termination. Given this incident, last year’s antisemitic protests on campus, and the university accepting anonymous Chinese donations for the Penn Biden Center, UPenn must be held accountable. If the university does not quickly correct course, the $936 million in federal research grants the institution received last year must be reevaluated. I joined Fox Business to discuss. From overpayments to absentee employees and underperforming agencies, DOGE has plenty of “low-hanging fruit” to address. Taxpayer dollars must fund programs that deliver results, not ones that consistently fall short. We’re committed to reforms that trim excess, increase transparency, and build a smarter government that works for all Americans. I joined "The Big Money Show" on Fox Business. Check out my "Dom Giordano Program" interview on TalkRadio WPHT! We covered how my Republican colleagues and I will work to advance President Trump’s America-First agenda in the 119th Congress with bold, pro-growth policies to strengthen both our economy and national security. We also discussed the need for strong leadership and a decisive plan to ensure Pennsylvania’s competitiveness in the years to come. Click here <[link removed]> or below to listen.

As a member of the new House DOGE Caucus, I look forward to joining forces with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to tackle waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. Last week, DOGE revealed nearly a trillion dollars in excess spending, including hundreds of billions of dollars in overpayments and misdirected funds. DOGE will address these inefficiencies and rein in spending. This is a moment of reckoning for the bloated federal bureaucracy. I joined 990AM "The Answer." The United States military is not a social engineering experiment—it’s a fighting force designed to protect our nation and ensure global stability. The FY25 NDAA prioritizes what truly matters—military readiness, modernization, and the security of the American people, rather than a social and ideological agenda. I took to the House floor to urge my colleagues to join me in voting for this bill and in supporting our troops. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.
<[link removed]>
Supporting our service members and their families is essential to maintaining the world’s strongest military. That’s why I expressed my support for the FY25 NDAA, which improves housing, healthcare, and childcare for military families, supports military spouses’ careers, and authorizes a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted personnel. This NDAA reflects our commitment to our armed forces and ensuring they have the resources they need — whether on the front lines or here at home. I spoke on the House floor about this issue. Congratulations to Congressman French Hill for becoming chairman of the Financial Services Committee! His leadership in this Congress on crypto policy and his deep expertise in financial services will serve the committee and the country well.
This Chairman race was a testament to the quality of subcommittee chairs and committee members I had the pleasure of serving with this Congress. Congratulations to Congressman Andy Barr, Rep. Bill Huizenga, and Congressman Frank Lucas on being excellent candidates, exemplifying the strength and talent within the committee.
French will continue to build on Chairman McHenry's work to make the Financial Services Committee the stellar committee it is. Patrick McHenry’s legacy is in good hands.
I look forward to what we can achieve under French’s leadership as we work to make the American financial services industry the most competitive in the world.
I joined colleagues from both sides of the aisle for a panel discussion at No Labels. We explored ways to foster collaboration in the 119th Congress and deliver policy solutions that benefit all Americans. Together, we will work to deliver a much-needed course correction for our country.
IN NEWS THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA HATES TO SHARE: Another week, more polls show that Americans are ready for President Trump to take over.
New data shows huge momentum behind President Donald J. Trump, his cabinet nominations, and his second term agenda.Just six weeks after his overwhelming electoral victory, President Trump is better positioned than ever to enact the sweeping changes for which Americans voted.
Here's what you need to know:
- A majority of Americans approve of how President Trump is handling the presidential transition, according to a new CNN poll <[link removed]>. The number, which includesmajorities <[link removed].>of women and young people, is about ten points higher thanat this point in 2016 <[link removed]>— and is in line withother <[link removed]>recent <[link removed]>surveys <[link removed]>, which consistently show strong majorities giving President Trump high marks.
- Americans have confidence in President Trump's ability to handle the most important issues, according to the CNN poll <[link removed]>. Most Americans express confidence in his ability to handle the economy, Russia/Ukraine, immigration, providing leadership, foreign affairs, appointing the best people, and using power responsibly.
- A majority of Americans expect President Trump to do a good job once he officially returns to office, according to the CNN poll <[link removed]>. Half of Americans say President Trump will bring "change for the better" —including <[link removed]>nearly half of women and younger Americans.
- According to a new Morning Consult poll, Americans view President Donald J. Trump more favorably than ever. A full half of all Americans have a favorable view of President Trump, whose favorability rating is at its highest in at least four years.
As President Trump prepares to take office, the enthusiasm is undeniable.Americans are ready for a return to strong, decisive leadership — and President Trump is prepared to deliver.
Speaking of the media, since the election, Americans are tuning into Fox News and other actual news networks and tuning out the "woke" media networks. See below.
Small businesses are the strength of our economy, but the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network's (FinCEN's) failed rollout of the Corporate Transparency Act’s (CTA) reporting rules has left them in limbo.
FinCEN's implementation of CTA requirements requires small businesses to report overly detailed ownership information or face penalties of up to $10,000. A court injunction has paused enforcement. Earlier this week, I called on FinCEN to step up, issue clear guidance, and lay enforcement. Small businesses shouldn’t bear the burden of FinCEN’s failures. Click here to read my statement. While FinCEN later acknowledged the court decision, it has and formally has not issued a permanent delay of implementation to give businesses clarity.
It was great speaking with Harold Hamm at today’s RSC meeting. As a true titan in the American energy industry, he understands the challenges and the potential of achieving domestic energy dominance. Under President Trump’s leadership, we will unleash domestic energy production, including in Pennsylvania, leading to lower inflation and cost savings for families and small businesses.
It was a pleasure to meet Powerex CEO Joe Wolf in my Washington, D.C., office. Based in Westmoreland County, Powerex is one of the last vertically integrated semiconductor manufacturers in the United States, playing a critical role in our national defense.
As efforts to revive domestic chip manufacturing continue, Powerex has been a trusted supplier of U.S.-made semiconductors for over 40 years, supporting essential military systems such as the F-35, Abrams tank, and Patriot missile launcher.
We had a great time at the Northeast Leadership Fund Christmas party held at Isabella. Many great business and political leaders from around the state came together to celebrate Christmas and the hard work done throughout the year.
It was great to welcome constituents and community leaders to my Pottsville office for our annual constituent appreciation Christmas celebration. This season is all about coming together, and I’m grateful for the chance to connect and express my sincere appreciation for our support throughout the year. A special thanks to everyone who joined us and my staff for making it all possible. This was the first of our two celebrations in the district. Wishing you and your families a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season!
I hosted our second Christmas celebration at Leggio’s in Dallas, PA, to show appreciation for my constituents in Pennsylvania’s Ninth District. It was great seeing both familiar and new faces, and I wanted to thank you all for your support over the past year.
As we head into the 119th Congress, I’m more committed than ever to delivering for the hardworking people of Pennsylvania’s 9th District.
Happy 388th Birthday to the United States National Guard! We're pleased to have Fort Indiantown Gap, home to the Pennsylvania National Guard, right here in Pennsylvania’s Ninth District. Headquartered in the heart of the Lebanon Valley, the Pennsylvania National Guard plays a vital role in safeguarding our nation and preserving our freedoms. Thank you to all National Guardsmen for your service and dedication to protecting our great nation.
I am honored to have been able to assist a Vietnam War Veteran and his family during such a challenging time. After receiving a request from a family in Northumberland County, my office assured them that we would do everything possible to assist in the transfer of their father from a VA in South Carolina to the VA in Wilkes-Barre so he could spend his final days with his loved ones. With our support, we were able to make that happen the very next day.
After he returned home <>to Pennsylvania, my team was pleased to present this veteran of the United States Navy with a Congressional Citation in recognition of his service on behalf of our nation. His family shared that their dad often felt like the American people never fully appreciated the sacrifice that he and other Vietnam War veterans made for our country. I’m grateful we could help provide that recognition in his final days.
If you or your family ever have trouble navigating the VA system, please don’t hesitate to contact me. My office is here to ensure our veterans receive the care and respect they’ve earned.
On Saturday, our office joined Wreaths Across America for a wreath-laying ceremony at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, paying tribute to the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom.
This powerful tradition ensures that we never forget the sacrifices of our heroes, especially during this season of reflection and gratitude.
Thank you to Wreaths Across America and all the volunteers who help honor our fallen and teach future generations the <>value of their service.
Finally, I want to remember Marie Solano, who passed away a few days ago. My wife attended the service yesterday. Marie was always so kind and good to me personally. Marie and her late, great husband, the legendary Pat Solano, were like family to me and so many others. Their family was so close. Please say a prayer for the extended Solano family. Pat and Marie are now united again. That should bring joy to all those who loved them. I can see Pat now with a big smile on his face. May God bless the Solano’s.
May God continue to bless our nation. I look forward to seeing you soon,
Dan Meuser
