Dear friend,
I am always humbled by the generosity of our supporters. One donor has stepped forward and offered a $25,000 match to help us reach our goal for the end of the year for the Center for a Humane Economy. It couldn’t come at a more crucial time.
In 2025, we’ll have to play defense at times. But we’ll also be prepared to seize opportunities and make 2025 a year of historic gains for animals.
* We are poised to get Adidas and other major athletic shoe companies to halt their sourcing of kangaroo skins and join the ranks of Nike, Puma, New Balance, and others that have shed the skins.
* As I write this, we just announced that the U.S. Senate passed FDA Modernization 3.0, a bill that would compel the FDA to end its antiquated, hurtful requirement (for humans as well as animals!) that new drugs be tested on beagles, primates, and others.
* We want to make 2025 the year when we put a stop to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s reckless billion-dollar plan to shoot almost half a million barred owls across the Pacific Northwest.
* And we will continue our effort to pass the landmark FIGHT Act and shut down the trafficking of fighting animals through the U.S. Postal Service and to empower citizens to bring civil cases against cockfighters and dogfighters.
For so many reasons, your support is crucial to our success. And when you give to us, know that your dollars are used where they really matter. We reduce our overhead like no other organization.
We don’t pay for office space. Rather than travel, we do Zoom meetings when they’ll suffice. We have never had a fancy retreat at a resort.
Our people—dedicated as they are to the cause, like you are—even supply their own computers and pay for their cell phones. So when you donate to the Center for a Humane Economy, you truly are giving directly to the actual work it takes to make change happen in the nation’s capital, state capitals, city halls across the country, and boardrooms across the world.
Your gift today has the potential to be doubled. If we meet our match goal, that’s $50,000 that will support some of the best legal minds, advocates, and communications professionals working in animal advocacy today. You have a voice, and our team amplifies it. That way, elected officials and the men and women in C suites hear it loud and clear: We must continue to do better — each and every year — for the animals who have no voice of their own.
Please. Support our work, and do so while it has the opportunity to be doubled. The match ends at midnight, December 31—just over two weeks away. [[link removed]]
