Email from National Constitution Center And classroom resources to celebrate the week Free Virtual Professional Learning Session: Bill of Rights and Amending the Constitution Wednesday, December 18 | 6:30-8 p.m. ET Celebrate Bill of Rights Day with the NCC Education team this week and discover how constitutional amendments have shaped the nation, from the Bill of Rights to more recent changes. During this online session, educators will learn about the Bill of Rights and how it applies in the modern day. Members of the NCC’s Education team and a guest educator will share resources and classroom applications on the first 10 amendments and the amendment process. Skrmetti A divided Supreme Court on Dec. 4, 2024, considered one of the highest profile cases in its current term, leaving perhaps more questions than answers about how it will decide if a state can regulate gender-affirming health care for teenagers. The case of United States v. Skrmetti is an appeal from the Biden administration and several families from a decision by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upholding a Tennessee law that greatly restricted such care to limited circumstances Discuss the news in your classroom with these two new resources: We the People podcast: Professor Kurt Lash of the University of Richmond and David Gans of the Constitutional Accountability Center join Jeffrey Rosen to debate whether the law violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
