I wanted to update you on important legislation Democrats in the House passed last the Friday: The Heroes Act. A number of provisions I fought for were included on the bill that are important for local communities here in the Central Valley:

• This bill provide $875 billion in relief for state and local governments -- that covers most of the municipalities in the Central Valley
• It helps local farmers by funding the much-needed Specialty Crop Block Grant and Emergency Dairy Donation Program
• It ramps up testing and tracing efforts -- which we desperately need in order for government and local business to reopen
• Supports local first responders and protects farmworkers by providing pandemic premium pay.

Predictably, Donald Trump already called this legislation "dead on arrival." That's not how we negotiate -- especially during a crisis. I'm going to do everything in my power to make working families in my community and across the country are taken care of and have the support they need.
