PLANNED PARENTHOOD
Care. No Matter What.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment for reproductive health and rights. Every one of us has a role to play in dismantling abortion bans and making sure everyone can get the care that's right for them.

Some of the biggest fights over reproductive health and rights are playing out in courtrooms and legal filings. That's where the Litigation and Law team at Planned Parenthood Federation of America comes in. Our attorneys are already involved in some of the most critical cases in the country — and we need to be ready to move quickly in the face of new legal attacks.

We've set a goal to raise $100,000 in 48 hours to support Planned Parenthood's litigation and other efforts to protect our rights and expand access to care. Will you chip in to Planned Parenthood Federation of America power this essential work? Make a gift before tomorrow's midnight deadline and we'll send you a FREE STICKER to say thanks.

I want to give you an update on some of the most important court cases happening right now:

Planned Parenthood sues Missouri

Voters in seven states approved protections for abortion — and we're going to court to make sure that overwhelming support for abortion turns into real access for patients.

Last month, Planned Parenthood affiliates in Missouri, represented by attorneys from Planned Parenthood Federation of America and partners, filed a lawsuit to end the state's abortion ban and restore abortion access in the state.

We're leveraging the newly passed Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative to block:
  • The first total abortion ban triggered by the Dobbs decision
  • Bans that stigmatize and limit abortion based on a patient's reason for having an abortion, as well as several overlapping gestational age bans
  • Laws that target abortion providers and are designed to block patients' care, including a ban on the delivery of medication abortion by telemedicine
  • Criminal penalties for abortion providers

This lawsuit continues the work of rebuilding abortion access in Missouri — including for patients who may need to travel from out of state. It's also a reminder that the work to protect our rights doesn't begin and end in the voting booth. We need to be ready to fight in court and win.

These fights require significant resources at a time when so many people are relying on Planned Parenthood. Will you help us reach our $100,000 goal by midnight tomorrow?

Protecting emergency care for pregnant people

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court heard a case about whether patients can be denied emergency abortion care in hospital emergency rooms.

Although the Supreme Court reinstated an order requiring Idaho to allow emergency care, the court refused to make clear that the longstanding federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) — designed to protect all ER patients across the U.S. — applies to pregnant patients who need abortion care during medical emergencies across the country, even in states with abortion bans.

The case now continues in the lower courts, leaving pregnant patients at risk.

These bans have killed pregnant people already, and they'll continue to threaten the health and lives of patients as long as they are in place. That's why we must make sure that Idaho, Texas, and other states stop denying life and health-saving care for pregnant people.

Make a gift to help us reach our critical $100,000 goal and help protect emergency care for pregnant people — and we'll send you a sticker to say thanks.

Legal attacks on Planned Parenthood health centers

One of the biggest looming threats to Planned Parenthood health centers is a baseless lawsuit launched by a radical anti-abortion plaintiff joined by the state of Texas. They are suing Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood affiliates in Texas for $1.8 billion.

The meritless suit falsely alleges Planned Parenthood broke the law by getting reimbursed for birth control, cancer screenings, and other basic health care services legally provided. A federal judge has ordered that this case proceed to trial — and the stakes are incredibly high.

This is nothing less than an attempt to exploit the courts to strip Planned Parenthood organizations of resources and shut down health centers.

We know this lawsuit is a sham. We know that Planned Parenthood health centers in Texas followed the law. But if we don't win in court, the consequences for patients across the country who rely on Planned Parenthood health centers for care will be devastating.

Help make sure we have the resources we need to protect reproductive health and rights — in the courts and in your community. Make your contribution to Planned Parenthood Federation of America to help us reach our $100,000 goal by midnight tomorrow — and we'll throw in a free sticker to say thanks.
