Dear John,
It was another busy week, and I wanted to take a moment to update you on the work we’re doing to protect our values, strengthen our economy, and support rural communities.
Joe Biden is determined to turn the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) into a one-stop tax juggernaut—acting as judge, jury, and executioner. We don’t need more IRS agents snooping around, and we certainly don’t need Washington sidelining accountants with a bloated, taxpayer-funded direct-file boondoggle. That’s why I joined my Republican colleagues in a letter to President Trump, urging him to end Biden’s reckless direct-file proposal on day one. We need an IRS that stays in its lane, and it will take Republican leadership to make that happen.
I voted AYE on this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which passed the House this week. This is a huge step in ensuring our military remains the strongest and most capable in the world—especially after years of WOKENESS eroding it under the Biden-Harris administration. The bill secures vital funding for our national defense while cracking down on the radical left’s attempts to politicize our armed forces. It bans critical race theory, halts funding for “gender-affirming care” for children, and ensures promotions are based on merit, not woke ideology. By refocusing on military readiness and national security, Republicans are putting our troops first and preparing them to face the global threats ahead.
I’m also pleased to share that the House passed my bill to rename the Roseau post office in honor of the late Floyd B. Olson, a beloved public servant who served as postmaster for 25 years. Floyd was well known in his community, not only for his work at the Post Office but also as a dedicated member of the Rose Free Lutheran Church, Vice President of the Roseau County History Board, and a longtime participant in the Roseau County Fair Board. It was an honor to introduce this bill, and I look forward to seeing it signed into law as a fitting tribute to his legacy.
As always, thank you for your continued support. If you ever have any questions or if my office can be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
