When extreme lawmakers forced through bills banning gender-affirming care in states across the country, they thought they would have the final word – that trans youth in their state would never again be able to access the medical care they need.
But they underestimated the resilience of our movement, John. The moment the first state bans on gender-affirming care became law, grassroots supporters like you stepped up to help us launch the Trans Youth Emergency Project in 2022. Together, we've supported 1,100 families with patient navigation services and direct grants (totaling over $600,000) to ensure they can still access the healthcare they need.
What started as a rapid response project in the South has now expanded into a nationwide program that reassures trans youth and their families in any state with a ban: You are not alone – and we will help you get the care you need and deserve.
