2024 has been a year of ups and downs. None of us have any illusions about
the challenges ahead with an incoming Trump administration and GOP
majorities in Congress. Democrats have some real reckoning to do after the
national elections.

Still, that doesn’t erase our victories in 2024. We elected six young
progressives to state legislatures – leaders like Sarah McBride, the first
transgender person ever elected to Congress, and Oscar De Los Santos, the
Arizona lawmaker who blocked Republicans from resurrecting an 1800s-era
draconian anti-abortion bill.

Bold young leaders that we helped elect – 100% thanks to the support of
this grassroots team – are going to play a major role in fighting the MAGA
agenda.

When I think about how much we’ve accomplished in our first year at
Leaders We Deserve, I start getting even more excited about what we can do
in years to come.

The truth is that we did not launch Leaders We Deserve because of one
election. This work has always been about playing the long game.
Conservatives spent decades building local power, taking over the majority
of state legislatures, and appointing far-right judges. Now, progressives
need to do the same exact thing.

We’re up against the clock to meet our $10,000 mid-month fundraising goal
