Thousands of Americans are dying every week from COVID-19, and millions more are losing their jobs and are unable to make ends meet. Yet the Trump administration has a different priority: bailing out big corporations.
This administration’s twisted priorities have left behind so many struggling workers and small businesses in order to protect the profits of the wealthy and well-connected. So we’re taking action -- and we hope you’ll join us. Add your name to demand that the Trump administration turn their attention to helping Americans suffering in the face of COVID-19, not their big corporate buddies.
Major American airlines -- including several private jet companies -- have happily accepted as much as $5.8 billion each in bailout money during this crisis. Meanwhile, the American people have been limited to $1,200 each no matter how much they’ve been set back. And even that $1,200 is subject to garnishment by debt collectors! So Americans hit hardest by this crisis won’t receive the money at all and may even find their bank accounts frozen while their cash is seized by debt collectors.
And the administration’s bungling of this crisis doesn’t end there. They thought that since Americans are fully focused on the pandemic, they’d take the opportunity to quietly hand off some 200,000 acres of our public lands to big oil and gas companies in dirt-cheap lease sales.
