Governor Walz Announces Funding for Law Enforcement Training and Recruitment

Governor Walz speaks to cadets at Hennepin Technical College
On Tuesday, Governor Walz announced $4.5 million in grants for 46 law enforcement agencies in Minnesota to support officer training and recruitment. The Governor made the announcement alongside cadets and police chiefs from across the state at Hennepin Technical College, which is one of two locations that will provide training for law enforcement candidates.
*"Police departments of all sizes are feeling the pinch of fewer officers,"* said Governor Walz. *"We’re investing in building strong, well-trained law enforcement agencies that are fully staffed and ready to answer any call that comes in."*

Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Joins Homeless Memorial March

On Thursday, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan joined the 40th Annual Homeless Memorial March in Minneapolis.
*"Tonight, we marched to honor the 266 individuals who died in 2024 while experiencing homelessness, those who were previously homeless, and those who were advocates," s*aid Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. *"I’m proud of the investments we’ve made to combat homelessness and expand access to affordable housing - but our work is not over until every Minnesotan has a safe, stable, and warm place to call home."*

ICYMI: Governor Walz Announces $19 Million Investment in Minnesota Semiconductor Manufacturer SkyWater

Governor Walz announced $19 million from the State of Minnesota to support SkyWater Technology’s plan to expand its semiconductor manufacturing facility in Bloomington, which is expected to create approximately 70 new jobs.
The Biden-Harris Administration also announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce plans to provide up to $16 million in proposed direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act.
*"Minnesota remains an established leader in manufacturing innovation, an accomplishment made possible through investments in high-tech business expansion, education, and workforce training," *said Governor Walz.* "Our consistent support of companies like SkyWater encourages the establishment and growth of high-tech companies that keep Minnesota on the cutting edge of the semiconductor industry. **We’re grateful to the U.S. Commerce Department for its commitment to Minnesota’s future and its partnership with our state."*
