Dear  Supporter,

As-salaamu ‘Alaikum

The blessed last ten nights of the month of Ramadan remind us of two main pillars in proclaiming the message of Islam in which they emanated within. In fact, they are the same two major pillars that serve as the foundation for propagating any message, i.e. knowledge and advocacy.

American Muslims for Palestine’s work embodies both pillars. We firmly believe that this is a proven recipe for success and we kindly ask you to continue your generous support of our work so we can serve the just cause of Palestine more effectively. As an organization dedicated to educating the public about the noble Palestinian struggle and advocating for Palestinian rights and freedom, we are often reminded of the wisdom behind the first word in the Qur’an ever to be revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): Iqra’ (Read)!
It was on this “Night of Power,” or Laylat al-Qadr, that the Almighty sent the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet (PBUH), and commanded him to “Read!” Indeed, reading, seeking knowledge, and raising awareness is a guiding principle in Islam and, in the same way, guides our work for justice in Palestine. Prejudice, hatred, and oppression are grounded in ignorance. Knowledge and awareness are the antidote.

Knowledge and awareness, however, can have no impact if there is no work and efforts behind them. The Prophet (PBUH) did not keep the powerful message of “Read” for himself; rather, he proclaimed it. “O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message.” (5:67)

We hope as part of your worship in this blessed night, especially as you reflect on the meaning of iqra’ (read), that you will continue to partner with us in our achievements, and more importantly, share with us in the blessings of this work. Because of the imperativeness of our work, Muslim scholars have determined and issued religious edicts, or fatwas, that we are a zakat-eligible.

On this holiest night that is “better than a thousand months”—in which blessings are abundant—please make a generous, zakat-eligible donation to help continue our education, advocacy, and grassroots mobilization efforts.
