How a diverse coalition scored a victory for tenants in North Carolina

Earlier this year, community members in Greensboro, North Carolina, successfully advocated for nearly $2 million in city funding to help renters stay in their homes. The victory came after months of organizing by the Keep Gate City Housed campaign, which is coordinated by AFSC. It also marked the first time in known memory that the city invested in an anti-eviction program. Read more about the efforts that led to this win for renters’ rights.  (Waging Nonviolence)

President Biden has less than 40 days to act on his promise to end federal executions. With Donald Trump vowing to restart executions in 2025, we are urging the Biden administration to commute all federal death sentences immediately. The administration must also take steps to prevent the use of the death penalty by any president. Take action today by sending a message to the Biden administration!

Organizers demand justice for immigrants in national week of action

From Dec. 10 (International Human Rights Day) through Dec. 18 (International Migrants Day), community members are taking part in protests, vigils, and events to stand up for immigrant communities. Participants are demanding human rights for all people, including immigrants and people facing oppression worldwide. The week of action was organized by a coalition that includes AFSC.
