John–
Twelve years ago today, a gunman shot and killed 20 young children and six
educators at Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Connecticut.
After the horrifying shooting at Sandy Hook School, Congress had a chance
to enact a strong background checks bill to help prevent future
tragedies—but NRA-backed politicians blocked it. It's unacceptable that
gun violence is now the leading cause of death for children and teens in
the United States.
Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action were created in the wake
of this tragedy to become a grassroots-powered counterweight to the gun
lobby. Our national movement has grown tremendously over the past decade,
and gun safety is no longer a third-rail issue. But we have so much more
work to do.
Together, we're continuing to work every day for a future free from gun
violence by counteracting the gun lobby's cynicism and greed with action.

In 2025, we're going to keep up the fight to end gun violence in America,
and we need you with us in our movement of more than 10 million
volunteers, survivors, advocates, and supporters. We know we've got some
big challenges ahead, but we've never let that stop us before.
Thank you for being a part of this movement,
Everytown for Gun Safety
