Dear John,

The Chinese government is orchestrating their plan to eliminate the Uyghur people and culture from the face of the earth.

Rushan Abbas, Campaign for Uyghurs, Founder and Executive Director (The Guardian): I don’t even know if my sister is still alive,” says Rushan Abbas, a leading Uyghur activist.

“Most of the economically independent or rich countries, they continued to do business with Germany (WWII), they enabled Germany’s economy to murder more people... That’s exactly the same thing happening right now. Continuing to do business with China is enabling China’s economy to be the threat to the world community."

“Continuing to do business with China is enabling China to murder my people.”

"Our religion, our culture, our language is being targeted as a mental ideological disease.”

“[It is] not just the 3 million people in the concentration camps facing mental and physical torture, forced intense indoctrinations, forced medications, food and sleep deprivation, [but] even the people at large... living outside, are facing a complete surveillance police state.”

WHAT'S HAPPENING:
At this very moment, there are over one million Uyghur Muslims forcefully detained in China, facing abuse, torture, and the flagrant denile of the right to life. The Chinese government is committing gross crimes against humanity with the systematic crackdown of their Muslim population, and they will do anything to quash criticism from its diaspora around the world.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE:
Rushan Abbas, a Uyghur activist and founder of the Campaign for Uyghurs, currently has countless friends and her beloved sister detained in the concentration camps. Emgage is proud to be working with her to shine light on the horrific human rights abuses happening to the Uyghur minority. The ethnic homeland of the Uyghurs has become a hyper-militarized police state, with senior officials in the Chinese government orchestrating a plan to eliminate the Uyghur people and culture from the face of the earth. As our leaders turn a blind eye to this atrocity, Emgage and supporters like you have raised awareness around this issue and succeeded in getting S. 3744, the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2020 - the sanctioning of the Chinese officials responsible - passed though the Senate LAST WEEK!

OUR ASK:
We paused for a moment to reflect on the victory of getting this bill passed in the Senate, but we are now back to work. We cannot stop until our government takes actions to stop these atrocities. The Uyghurs still need our help, and the work is not done yet. We are only $500 away from our Ramadan goal of $5,000. In these last few nights, please keep the Uyghur people in your prayers and contribute to help us reach our goal.

In solidarity,
Wa'el Alzayat
