Hello friend,

Christmas came early to the foreign secretary, David Lammy, this week as Santa and his helpers turned up at his office with a larger-than-life, debt cancellation themed Christmas card!

Over 3,000 of us signed the six-foot card, calling for a debt justice law in 2025. The sight of Father Christmas, his elves and a pantomime reindeer braving the cold to deliver the message was a hard one to ignore – as you can see from the photos below.

Festive outfits and cringeworthy puns aside, the message couldn’t be more serious. We’re facing the worst debt crisis in thirty years, and with nine in ten debt contracts between private lenders and lower-income countries being overseen by the UK, a new law here could have a huge impact overseas.

That’s why we turned up outside the Foreign Office this week – to take the message to the government that we won't let up until they deliver on their pre-election pledge to “tackle unsustainable debt”.

friend, it’s thanks to supporters like you that the debt crisis is on the government’s radar. We'll be turning up the pressure in 2025 to make sure they deliver on their promise - and take action to cancel the debt.

In solidarity,

Wiz, Zak, Father Christmas, Eva and everyone at Debt Justice
