Dear Friends,

Happy Friday! This week, I held a telephone town hall to hear from you and answer your questions. Thank you to the 11,000 people who called in to ask about issues from gun violence to prescription drug costs to women's rights. I am committed to addressing the thoughts and concerns of all of my constituents and will continue to advocate for the Second District in Washington.

Advocating for Gun Reform

Tomorrow marks 12 years since the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting, but gun violence is still a major issue in our country. After meeting with former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, a survivor of gun violence herself, I am even more inspired to continue the fight for gun reform.

As a member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I will always push for gun safety initiatives that protect communities in our District and across the country.

Expanding Access to Healthcare

I met with the Illinois Primary Health Care Association to discuss making healthcare more accessible. This includes extending key funding, expanding telehealth, and making medications more affordable.

Both the IPHCA and I are dedicated to reaching all parts of the Second District to increase healthcare equity, especially in medically underserved communities.

Fall Internships Come to a Close

These past few months, I have had the pleasure of serving the Second District with the help of several wonderful interns in my DC and District offices. I want to express my gratitude for their hard work. The futures of these young leaders are bright, and I know they will go on to do great things.
