Our
post-election survey results are here, and I wanted to share them with
you.

Almost 1,000 of you completed our survey last month after the
disappointing general election, and I’m incredibly grateful to hear your
thoughts as we approach the new year and a new, uncertain presidency
together.

According to the survey results, your top five issues are:

1. Voting rights and democracy
2. Climate change
3. Reproductive rights
4. Affordable and accessible healthcare
5. Gun reform

It’s not surprising to see voting rights and democracy rise to the top of
this list, given Donald Trump’s countless threats to remain in power past
this four-year term and assurance to his MAGA base that they’d never have
to vote again if he won.

We’re also moving closer to the point of no return in the climate crisis,
so it’s deeply concerning that Trump and GOP leaders who will control
Congress are promising to roll back air and water protections and undo the
action we’ve taken to address climate change.

Republicans also threaten to further rip away reproductive rights, have no
plan (or as Trump said, “concepts of a plan”) to make health care more
affordable and accessible, and prioritize gun industry profits over
solving our nation’s worsening gun violence epidemic.

We also asked how you’re generally feeling after the election, and the
most common responses included: depressed, anxious, angry, and scared.

I hear you, and I want you to know I’m with you. My office and I have been
preparing for the potential legal battles on all of the above issues and
more since long before Trump was elected.

If his administration breaks the law, we will give it our all to hold him
accountable. If he tries to take away our freedoms, we will fight back.
And California will continue to lead the way on the key issues facing
people like you.

people-powered campaign as we prepare for the future.
