Daily Caller ([link removed]) (12/12/24) reports: "The push for electric vehicle (EV) adoption is largely premised on misleading claims, and could bring enormous costs for U.S. consumers and the economy, a new meta-study shared exclusively with the Daily Caller News Foundation found. Federal regulators and multinational corporations have attempted to push EVs on the American public in recent years, with the Biden-Harris administration introducing strict tailpipe emissions standards, and major automakers implementing lofty electric production targets. However, widespread EV adoption may not be as feasible as lawmakers and auto executives once claimed, with a new meta-analysis from the Institute for Energy Research (IER) noting EVs can have a variety of drawbacks for consumers when compared to their gas-powered counterparts, including elevated upfront costs, lower resale values, limited driving range and a lack of
charging infrastructure. 'We argue the EV transition is going to take a lot of government coercion to make happen,' Kenny Stein, vice president of policy at IER and the study’s lead author, told the DCNF. 'It is a very difficult process, and it is not a very desirable process to force.' "

MAGA: Make Appliances Great Again!

(12/13/24) reports: "Homeowners in the market for washers and dryers may have better-performing options to choose from in the near future due to a bill limiting the extent of energy efficiency mandates on laundry appliances passing the U.S. House. The Republican-led House Resolution 1612, or Liberty in Laundry Act, would prohibit the Secretary of Energy from enforcing energy conservation standards for clothes washers or dryers that 'are not cost-effective or technologically feasible.' Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., who introduced the legislation, said the move is a response to the 'slew of woke, ‘environmental’ nonsense rulemaking attempts' by the Biden administration and U.S. Department of Energy...But the less electricity and water laundry appliances use, the less effectively they tend to perform, according to an ** Oct. 2024 report ([link removed])
by the Institute for Energy Research. 'Historically, appliances meeting Energy Department standards have often underperformed and have higher costs,' the report stated. 'The Biden-Harris administration is imposing a series of regulations that are raising appliance prices and compromising quality for homeowners.' Unless the bill is signed into law, laundry appliance makers have until March 2028 to comply with the new rules."

(12/12/24) reports: "A group of U.S. oil and gas producers is upping the pressure on House Speaker Mike Johnson to push through a major permitting reform bill, stressing in a letter Wednesday the urgency for the chamber to move swiftly on approving the legislation, which they see as crucial for attracting new investments in domestic oil and gas projects, bolstering national energy security and breathing new life into other long-stalled energy infrastructure projects. The letter, authored by a coalition of U.S. oil and gas groups who represent a combined 80% of domestic fossil fuel production, stressed the need for House Republicans to swiftly and 'immediately' pass the Energy Permitting Reform Act, or the 2024 bill authored by Sens. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va., and John Barrasso, R-Wyo. They described that legislation as crucial to helping expedite actions for producers under the second Trump administration."
