Governor DeWine Signs House Bill 107 Designating a Portion of I-90 in Honor of Late Cleveland Firefighter Johnny Tetrick
Governor DeWine signs HB 107 at Cleveland Fire Station 22.
(CLEVELAND, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 107 today designating a portion of Interstate 90 (I-90) as the Cleveland Firefighter Johnny Tetrick Memorial Highway, honoring the late Johnny Tetrick, who died in the line of duty in 2022.
“Today we honor the legacy of Johnny Tetrick, who dedicated his life to helping his community,” said Governor DeWine. “It is so important to remember our brave first responders who give the ultimate sacrifice.”
HB 107, sponsored by State Representative Tom Patton (R-Strongsville), dedicates a portion of I-90 between east 72nd street and east 105th street in honor of Tetrick and is commemorated by roadway signs provided by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
On November 19, 2022, Firefighter Tetrick was assisting on the scene of a motor vehicle accident on I-90 in Bratenahl when he was struck and killed by a vehicle that drove through the accident scene.
Tetrick served on the Cleveland Fire Department for 27 years. For 25 of those years, he worked at Cleveland Fire Station 22.
Regan Tetrick (pictured middle), one of Johnny's three daughters, took part in the bill signing.
