Dear Friend,

This week, the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. Included in this legislation, which funds our Department of Defense, was our office’s Ammunition Supply Chain Act.

The increased use of ammunition and artillery around the world has led to global shortages of critical materials used in ammunition production. These shortages have resulted in skyrocketing domestic ammunition prices for Minnesotans and have raised concerns over the United States’ military readiness.

The Ammunition Supply Chain Act aims to address these concerns by identifying vulnerabilities in our ammunition supply chain and providing strategies to foster public-private partnerships to address them. In doing so, we will ensure that the United States military, and sportsmen across Minnesota, have uninterrupted access to an abundant and reliable supply of ammunition.

Including our Ammunition Supply Chain Act in the NDAA is an important first step in strengthening domestic ammunition production and supporting our servicemen and women. As we look ahead to 2025 and the 119th Congress, we will continue to look for opportunities to support Minnesota sportsmen and our service members.

Last week, we had the chance to meet with some of the outgoing Mayors from across Minnesota’s Sixth District.  During our meetings with St. Joseph Mayor Rick Schultz, Sauk Rapids Mayor Kurt Hunstiger, and Waite Park Mayor Rick Miller, we presented each of them with an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol and thanked them for their service to their communities. All of these men represented their towns with dedication and we are grateful for their public service. Thank you, Mayor Schultz, Mayor Hunstiger, and Mayor Miller and we hope you enjoy your well-earned retirement.

We also had the opportunity to sit down with Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum and his staff to discuss the new Niron Magnetics manufacturing facility coming to their community. This exciting development will bring hundreds of good-paying jobs to Sartell and will help continue the area’s growth. We were proud to work with Mayor Fitzthum to help bring this cutting-edge technology manufacturing facility to Sartell and are excited to see this innovation take place in Minnesota’s Sixth District!

If our office can ever be helpful to you or your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to us by visiting our website at emmer.house.gov or calling our office at (763) 241-6848.

Sincerely,
