Current FBI Director Christopher Wray — who has almost two years left in his
ten-year term — just announced that he intends to resign shortly.

Wray was appointed by Donald Trump, but Trump now wants to put a MAGA extremist
and “deep state” conspiracist named Kash Patel in charge of the FBI. As we’ve
noted in previous emails to you, Patel has been brazen in announcing his
intention to weaponize the FBI against government officials, journalists,
nonprofit groups, and the American people.

Whatever one might think of the FBI — and its undeniable record of
discrimination, corruption, and brutality — the agency does have a significant
role in maintaining the rule of law.

The FBI is not supposed to be a tool of retribution and oppression to be wielded
at the whims of whoever happens to be in the White House. That’s why FBI
directors are appointed for ten-year terms — specifically to avoid
politicization of the bureau.

Control of something as powerful as the FBI simply must not be willingly handed
over to another unhinged Trump sycophant.

Resigning before the end of your term would aid and abet Donald Trump’s plot to
weaponize the FBI. Do not resign.
