John, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has delivered on his promise to bring the crucial vote on the Social Security Fairness Act to the Senate floor. This is the closest Congress has ever come to repealing two unfair provisions in the Social Security law since their enactment 40 years ago. Now we need to get the bill across the finish line.
This may be the hardest part of the fight! The vote could happen as soon as Monday night. So please take five minutes and call your senators here, to tell them how important it is that they vote YES on the Social Security Fairness Act.
This bill has wide bipartisan support, from constituents and lawmakers, for one simple reason: It’s about fairness. Everyone knows a teacher, firefighter, law enforcement officer, nurse or public worker who’s paid into the Social Security system only to be penalized by the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset when they retire.
Every worker deserves to retire securely and with dignity. Passing the Social Security Fairness Act will help right these wrongs and give public workers the benefits they have earned. Click here and make the call.
Ensuring a fair retirement is how we respect the workers who have devoted their careers to uplifting and serving our communities. And it’s how we recruit and retain the next generation of workers to help our country thrive.
For our retirees, and for our future, we need to pass the Social Security Fairness Act. It’s up to us to make it happen. Please take five minutes to call your senators and tell them to vote YES on this important bill.
Thank you for all you do.
In unity,
