Dear Friend,
Today is the last day of our 10-day campaign to raise $10,000 -- and unlock a $10,000 match -- to celebrate the launch of GGWash Commons [[link removed]] , our new 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm.
We're so close: You've helped us raise [[link removed]] $8,458 thus far ! That's more than 84% of our goal. We're incredibly grateful to have the help of so many supporters in getting this second organization off the ground [[link removed]] .
Thank you to these individuals who have made a founding contribution to GGWash Commons since our last email on Tuesday: Luke C., Brenden C., Stephen C., Rosalyn D., Eddie G., Jen G.F., Mary H., Gawain K., Michael M., Andrew M., Ryan O., Otis R., Sauleh S., Don S., Shannon T., Greg R.
If you haven't yet, would you help us reach our goal with a tax-deductible contribution?

Curious to learn more? Why we've launched a second nonprofit:
We started up GGWash Commons [[link removed]] to help build civic capacity in the Washington region in support of better housing, transportation, and land use policy.
GGWash is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, which means we’re allowed to engage in political activity and don’t face limits on lobbying. But (c)(4) status alone isn’t as flexible as we need it to be. Advancing land use, housing, and transportation policy involves more than political, lobbying, and advocacy activity. We publish stories, we host events, we lead trainings, we undertake occasional research projects, and more. More than 90% of GGWash’s budget is spent on nonpolitical work. Most foundations, however, won’t give grants to 501(c)(4) nonprofits, and many donors prefer the tax-deductibility of donations made to 501(c)(3) organizations.
So the team behind GGWash has launched a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Greater Greater Washington Commons, to take the lead on several areas of work. GGWash and GGWash Commons will exist side-by-side. Learn more in the official announcement [[link removed]] .
Thank you for supporting the movement to make this a region where housing is abundant and affordable and it's safe and easy to walk, bike, roll, and take transit to get around. We're so excited to start this newest chapter with you!
[[link removed]] Warmly,
Chelsea A. Allinger
Executive Director
GGWash & GGWash Commons
P.S. Donors who contribute to the GGWash Commons [[link removed]] launch campaign by December 13 (that's today!) will be recognized on the GGWash Commons website, if they choose. Thank you for being part of this important moment!
