John, Donald Trump is once again testing the limits of our democracy.
Last month, he called for something that should alarm every American: bypassing the Senate’s constitutional role in confirming cabinet nominees through recess appointments.
The Founders entrusted the Senate with the responsibility to carefully vet and approve nominees for key positions in our government. The Senate’s role is not optional — it’s essential to preserving our democracy.
If Trump succeeds, he’ll set a precedent that could erode our constitutional guardrails for years to come. It would open the door for unqualified and dangerous individuals to assume critical roles without the scrutiny or accountability that our system demands.
For four years, we saw the consequences of the Trump administration and his Republican allies cutting corners. When loyalty takes precedence over competence, the American people suffer. It's no secret that Donald Trump is selecting his cabinet picks to push the most extreme pieces of his agenda. With many of them already proving controversial, I need your help to stand up to this overreach.
If you agree that the Senate must uphold its duty to vet every nominee, I need your support. Your contribution will help me continue to fight for transparency, fairness, and the principles that have guided our nation since its founding. Will you chip in to stand with me in this crucial work? >> [link removed]
Thank you for standing with me to defend the integrity of our government.
Sincerely,
Chris
