Have you heard the news? My daughter Yvette was officially named the next Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus!
I’ve watched Yvette follow in my footsteps and continue the legacy of ensuring that underrepresented communities in Brooklyn have an advocate with us — and now, she’ll have a chance to lead the millions of Americans by advancing policies that uplift Black Americans and fighting back against the MAGA movement.
In my 10 years serving on the New York City Council, I was an active member of the Council’s Black, Latino, and Asian Caucus. I know just how important it is for communities of color to stand united in the face of right-wing extremism.
This President and Republicans in Congress are gearing up to enact the most anti-Black and anti-immigrant agenda in recent history. But I’m glad to say that my daughter will be the one leading the fight against the MAGA movement and their incoming attacks on our rights and freedoms.
I’ve seen firsthand how the Congressional Black Caucus fights back and who they fight for. They aren't called the conscience of Congress for nothing. With more members than ever before, I know my daughter will have her hands full in stopping the MAGA agenda in its tracks.
I’m glad my daughter has supporters like you to stand behind her. Thank you.
